Shaping Bright Futures Together

The Paperbag Princess

Acorn Class have had a very busy and exciting week. We arrived on Monday to find 5 new butterflies and a dragon! We enjoyed watching the butterflies getting more confident and flying in the net as the day wore on.  In the afternoon, we decided to release them and were delighted to see them flying off over the trees towards a new life.

Our dragon, Jack, also hatched and, luckily, Mummy dragon had left a note telling us that baby dragons eat cakes.  We, therefore, made some delicious fairy cakes to share between us and Jack. On Tuesday, there was a map which we followed to the fire pit, where we found Mummy dragon and the things to make hot chocolate. This led to lots of conversation about hot and cold.  One child suggested that we make jelly, which proved to be a very popular idea (and the perfect visual way to discuss hot and cold).

In phonics, we have been thinking about initial sounds of words and revisiting the abc song. We have been mark making in the playground with chalk, and water and paintbrushes.  We have also been matching up numbers to amounts of dragon eggs.

The Acorn team would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our families a happy Half Term Holiday!
