Shaping Bright Futures Together

Bug's Big Trip

This week, we have started work on the Wildlife Trust's 30 Days Wild programme.  This encourages individuals to spend more time outside and to bond with nature.  It ties in nicely with our 'Eco World' topic and our desire to spend a lot of time outside this half term.

We have focused on our senses and have used them to appreciate the flora and fauna around us.  We have picked raspberries and used all of our senses to appreciate them (including eating them).  We have picked leaves, made a leaf potion and used our senses to see how much stronger the smell is when they are crushed.  We also rubbed lavender and then lemon mint through our hands and enjoyed the aroma. We have been on a sound walk and identified the sounds of cars, the wind, the leaves rustling, birds singing and a raven!  We finished the week by using our sense of touch to explore different natural materials without looking.

We have also been practising our counting, identifying the initial sounds of different animal words, enjoying our outdoor classroom and even had a go at yoga!
