11th September – settling into Acorn Class
We are so proud of all of the children in Acorn Class. Each morning they have come into school – usually with a big smile – and they have sorted out their belongings for themselves, hanging coats on pegs and putting away their book bags and water bottles. In the class we are gradually learning the new routines and expectations. Our focus is on communication and social skills and we have been working hard at our sharing , taking turns and listening . There is lots to learn, new routines to establish and new friends to make. Gradually we are learning one another’s names and finding out where everything belongs so that we can get things out and tidy them away for ourselves.
There has certainly been no way in which we could single out anyone as a star learner this week as they have all been little superstars, as have the six nursery children who have been coming into school during the afternoons.
There are all sorts of new things to learn and we have been exploring many of the different resources we have in Acorn Class and doing lots of listening, talking, sharing, taking turns and counting . We have also been busy doing some printing and each of our Reception children now has a very special bag to carry their library books in.
