23rd October 2020 – The end of our first half term in Acorn Class
As the Acorn children come to the end of their first half term in Reception and pre-school, it really is the time to say how very impressed we are by their superb attitude and by all that they have achieved in the past eight weeks. For a year group that has started school with a very different and unusual transition period, they have all really impressed us by how quickly and cheerfully they have settled and how happy and confident they are in school. Thank you to all our parents for your support and encouragement and for entrusting your little people to our care during their school days. We are having lots of fun learning together.
This week we have been continuing our Jungle Journey adventures. This a motor skills development program which helps the children to improve their fine and gross motor skills which underpin
their learning in other areas as they progress through the school.
We are also working on our listening skills. This is done through a series of games which encourage the children to focus on the four key skills required for good listening :
· To look at the person who is doing the talking.
· To sit still and not fidget while listening.
· To keep quiet.
and
· To listen to ALL of the words.
These are all essential skills but, as always, taught through a fun and engaging approach and there is lots of laughter in Acorn class as we learn.
We wish all our children and parents a restful and enjoyable half term, hopefully with some opportunity for long lie-ins for you all!
