EYFS Curriculum
Within the Early Years Foundation Stage (Preschool and Reception) we offer a caring, friendly, enabling environment which promotes the learning and development of every child and prepares them for the challenges of today and tomorrow. The happiness and well-being of each child is central to all that we do and we provide a safe, relaxed atmosphere where children can quickly settle and confidently become involved in all of the learning opportunities on offer.
Key to this is developing trusting relationships and working in partnership with families. We aim for every child to leave the Early Years Foundation Stage as a confident, independent and reflective learner.
At Ashton Under Hill First School we place the Characteristics of Effective Learning at the centre of what we do. We have created some very special dinosaurs that help the children's understanding of how to be a good learner.
Please meet : Explorasaurus, Tryasaurus and Thinkasaurus, they will guide your child through the first steps of being an effective learner and will build on these skills when they move into Reception. Our intent is that our children will leave the Foundation Stage at our school having been provided with opportunities and experiences that develop them into life long enthusiastic learners.
