Acorn Class toy sale
This week we have been very busy learning about money and practising our counting and coin recognition in readiness for our toy sale . Many thanks to everyone who donated toys and to those who came along to buy. The children enjoyed being shopkeepers and bankers for the afternoon and , as well as improving the quality of the role play in our class ‘coffee shop’ , this whole project will help to develop the children’s appreciation and sense of ownership of the new blocks which we are hoping to purchase for our outdoor area.
We have also had great fun today sorting and then counting up all the coins using ten frames to collect them into sets of ten before working out the total amount raised. This was certainly maths with a real purpose!
