This week we have been busy learning about the Hindu celebration of Diwali which is taking place over the coming weekend.
On Wednesday 11th November the whole school took part in our Act of Remembrance led by our Year 5 pupils. We were very grateful for the support of Mr. Green, the Standard Bearer for the local branch of the Royal British Legion, and the beautiful playing of ‘The Last Post’ by Mr. Butler and Mrs. Holme. We were also very proud of all our children for their involvement.
This week we have had a firework theme in Acorn Class.
With the lockdown coming into force this week, we are well aware that there is lots going on for everyone at the moment. People often ask us how things are going in school and we thought it would be good to share a glimpse of life in school and how our lovely children are thriving in our happy and calm school environment.
Our Year 5 pupils would like to show you around our wonderful school.
As the Acorn children come to the end of their first half term in Reception and pre-school, it really is the time to say how very impressed we are by their superb attitude and by all that they have achieved in the past eight weeks.
At forest school we sat under the oak tree and listened to the story of Chicken Licken who had an acorn land on her head and thought that the sky had fallen on her. We had great fun exploring in, under and all around the hollow oak tree.
In Acorn Class this week we have been very busy counting and comparing the apples which we collected (with permission) on one of our forest school trips.
This week in Acorn class we have been enjoying the story of Goldilocks and the Three bears
This week we have been thinking about harvest . We have been retelling the story of the Little Red Hen
