Christmas in Acorn Class
The excitement and magic of Christmas has been very much in evidence over the past two weeks. In Acorn Class we have been busy preparing for our nativity play which went onto the website this week. Filmed on location around the village and on the hill, it features the Acorn Reception children in the starring roles and our preschoolers as very cute stable mice along with every child in the school playing their part. This very special lockdown production exemplifies the team spirit at Ashton and the resourcefulness of the staff which has made a whole school production possible despite very challenging circumstances.
We have also all really enjoyed our school Christmas dinner cooked for us by the amazing Mrs Barnett who managed to conjour up a delicious lunch for over 120 children and staff in two separate bubble sittings .
Lots of fun was had on our Christmas party day and we had a magical visit from Father Christmas and his elf ‘Rosie’ who very kindly gave each of us a lovely gift, a special jingle bell to ring on Christmas Eve and a bag of magic reindeer food.
In Maths we have been practising recognising and ordering numbers, using our advent calendar angels and we have made some long paper chains with repeating patterns to decorate our classroom. We have also been very excited to see our stained glass advent calendar windows appearing in houses around the village as we have helped to spread some Christmas cheer to others .
We have been ordering events and retelling the story of the nativity and have all done some great writing about this. We have also continued to work hard with our reading – and what a lot of little beginner readers we have in Acorn class now!
Acorn Class would like to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and we all hope for a peaceful and healthy new year ahead.
