Shaping Bright Futures Together

Hawthorn Wb 11 Decemeber

We've been busy, busy, busy in Hawthorn class this week!
Not only have the children continued to work hard in their lessons, but they've also done their wonderful best in our amazing Nativity. We are so proud of them for the way they all shone, whether they were a narrator or up on the stage acting their heart out.  And the singing was super, too. It really was 'alright on the night' and it's put us all in the festive spirit. Only one week to go!
Meanwhile, in English, the children finished their 'What happens when' booklets and then wrote some lovely letters to Santa, which have been posted off to the North Pole in time for Christmas!
In maths, Year 1s continued their work on numbers within 20 while Year 2s practised adding two 2-digit numbers on a number line, and even had a go at drawing their own number lines.
We've almost finished our topic as the children have now learnt about the history of trains and aeroplanes. They particularly enjoyed finding out about Amelia Earhart, who did so much for women aviators but sadly disappeared during her attempt to fly around the world and was never seen again. Next week, the children will be making a special Christmas-themed vehicle - I wonder if you can guess what it might be?
In Science, we have been looking at the seasons and thinking how the clothes we wear differ through the year, how different the trees look and also the amount of daylight there is at the moment compared with in the summer.  We have also started to make a seasons based picture for something that will be able to go on your fridges (see photos) - this will be coming home soon!
