Shaping Bright Futures Together

Oak Week Beginning 8th January 2024

It's good to be back to school this week, all the routines are back in place!

It's also great to welcome Mrs Clements to our Oak Team, she will be teaching the class on Wednesday mornings from this term with myself teaching in the afternoon.

We have dived straight into our new themes, topics and books so it's been business as usual! In Maths we are continuing to develop our use of multiplication and division, moving into more formal methods of working out these calculations. In English we have started a new genre of mystery and suspense narratives so will be learning how to build up tension and create an atmosphere of mystery in our writing. The new science topic will cover teeth and digestion, revisiting the Animal Including Humans area of study.

We have done some practical work this week too, including drama in English, giving a turtle instructions to create shapes in Computing and learning all about printing in Art. We had a lovely lesson on Friday afternoon experimenting with mark making using lots of different objects as printing blocks. The children had lots of fun investigating which objects made the best marks and patterns to create a colourful and eye-catching pattern. Have a look in the gallery for this week to see what we created.
