Ashton Under Hill First School

Shaping Bright Futures Together

2526 Oak Class 12th June

Since coming back from half term Oak class have packed a great deal into their two weeks. Last week we explored capacity and how we could estimate the capacity of different containers. We took containers out onto the playground to explore different ways of measuring the amount of water they could hold.

In English we have been exploring the book ‘One Giant Leap’ about the first moon landing and the children have started writing their own historical fiction about the more recent Artemis II mission to the far side of the moon. We have been trying to include relative clauses and dialogue in our work.

We have also been finishing off our topic on ‘Raging Rivers’ and exploring river ecosystems as well as looking at how important water is and how access to it is not the same all over the world.

In amongst all their lessons the children of Oak class have been taking to the roads around Ashton-Under-Hill on their bikes. They have learnt how to ride safely and considerately by completing their Bikeability courses and come away with level 1 or level 2 certificates. Well done everyone!
