2526 Oak w/c 2nd March
To finish off our Ancient Islamic Civilisations topic Oak class had a forest school on the last day before half term, in which they made flatbreads and cooked them on the open fire as they may have done in the Islamic Civilisations. They also had ingredients in which to make medicines and came up with their own Islamic patterns with natural materials. In addition, we created our very own Ancient Islamic market in collaboration with Willow class where they got the chance to show off their fantastic Islamic artefacts, as well as enjoying the scents and atmosphere of a busy marketplace.
In Maths the children have been exploring statistics; reading tables and timetables and incorporating their computing and science skills to create and answer questions about line graphs.
In our English lessons we have been reading the poem ‘I am Cat’ by Jackie Morris and exploring the adjectives and similes she uses to create the images of different cats. The children have really enjoyed guessing which type of cat each stanza is describing.
Yesterday we all celebrated world book day, and it was lovely to see the different ‘words’ that the children had dressed up as. We also made crowns displaying our favourite books.
