Shaping Bright Futures Together

Willow wb 23.03.26

This week we have been learning about the difference between climate zones and biomes. We worked collaboratively in groups, each focusing on a specific biome and carrying out research into its landscape, weather, plants, animals, and examples of locations around the world. We also explored how these features can be similar or different across regions. After gathering our information, we created informative posters and presented them to the class, giving everyone the opportunity to share their knowledge and learn more about the wide variety of biomes on Earth.

In Maths, we have been learning about fractions, focusing on finding equivalent fractions using bar models. The Year 4 children have also been working on counting beyond one, using cubes to help them count forwards and backwards with confidence. In writing lessons, we have been learning how to use prepositional phrases in a setting description to make our writing more specific and detailed. We began by reading a description and drawing a picture to see how effective the imagery was, before creating our own descriptions and applying our new skills.

As part of our art work on Henri Matisse, we have created models inspired by the style of Fauvism, which is known for its bright, bold, and contrasting colours. We were also influenced by the creative and expressive shapes Matisse used in his artwork, using these ideas to develop our own  designs.

We ended the term with our traditional egg hunt, which was lots of fun for everyone involved. We hope you all have a wonderful Easter break and look forward to welcoming you back for the Summer term.
