Ashton Under Hill First School

Shaping Bright Futures Together

Holly Class - w/b 12th December 2022

What a magical week we've had in Holly Class! We have had some lovely Christmassy experiences inside and outside school, all made more festive by the snow on the ground.

On Tuesday 'Experience Christmas' came to school and we really enjoyed the assembly they put together for us, each of the children have brought home a lovely goodie bag from this.

On Wednesday we had a brilliant day out. The Year 1 children from Hawthorn class joined us for the day and we went on a bus to Smart Trees. We were greeted by the elves and set off on our map reading adventure to find the clues that would tell us Santa's favourite Christmas song and the children did a brilliant job of working in their teams. Then it was time for our grotto visit, we made wishes with coins in a special well and had a go at driving a sleigh before seeing Santa himself. Even lunchtime became an adventure, we ate in a barn and then had a go at decorating some trees as well as making our own maps and drawing on some fabulous chalk board walls. After lunch we just had time for a trailer ride, some singing and a visit to the reindeer before setting off back to school. I was so proud to take the children, they all behaved beautifully and were a real credit to our school. A chilly, but very special day - enjoy looking at some of our photographs!

Thursday was party day and we had a lovely time playing festive party games together, enjoying a party lunch and meeting our special visitor. How lucky to see Santa twice in one week, especially as he is so busy at this time of year! Then on Friday it was lovely to join the rest of school for 'Carols around the tree', lots of lovely singing to finish the year.

Amongst all of this, the children have enjoyed some Christmas crafting this week, they have printed their own Christmas cards, made calendars linked to our seasonal changes science work and even made a lovely reindeer tree decoration.

Have a wonderful Christmas break everyone and see you in the New Year!
