Ashton Under Hill First School

Shaping Bright Futures Together

25 26 Hawthorn 3rd July

Our year together is marching on and we've done some fantastic things during the last few weeks.
The children have written their own set of instructions for making slime, and this week they made their own!

In maths, both year groups have finished their work on Fractions and moved on to Money, with the Year 1s gaining an understanding of the different coins and notes we use, while the Year 2s have been applying their knowledge to more complicated challenges such as calculating with money and finding change.

In our geography topic, we had a fantastic session with an ex-pupil who told the children all about villages in China (having lived there for four years himself), which we went on to compare with our own lovely Ashton under Hill.

This week, we paid a visit to St Barbara's church to take a look around, escorted by Reverend Katryn. Our RE topic is all about Sacred Places, so it was great for the children to be able to see both inside and outside the church for themselves. They have been learning different sketching techniques, so this was also a perfect opportunity to put their new skills into practice.

And finally, we've been having a very sporty time - with the cluster Year 1/2 Multiskills morning a few weeks ago and Sports Day yesterday. Have a look at the photos to see us all in action!
