2526 Oak Class 17th July
This week has been a busy and emotional week for Oak Class. It was their last week as Year 5 students and their last week with us here at Ashton-Under-Hill First school before they move up to middle school.
We started off the week with ‘Main Games,’ an activity day in Fladbury for all the year 5 students in the area that are due to move up to Bredon Hill Academy. It was a chance for the students to get to know their future classmates and take part in some fun activities. They tried their hand at Bellboating, skittle ball, long distance running and kwik cricket. Lots of new friends were made and everyone had a great time.
Tuesday the year 5s got to enjoy their treat day; this year they chose to camp out in Forest school. All the children got to stay at school long after the other students had left. They made their own pizzas, watched a movie, played games such as hide and seek tag and hunt the skeleton in forest school, and even made their own den. After s’mores, sweets and hot chocolate it was time for some children to leave us and some to go to bed in the tents, kindly put up by parents. After a lovely breakfast on Wednesday morning there were some very tired faces (children and teachers) as they carried on through another day of school where they got to watch their old nativity that had been discovered in their time capsule.
Thursday the children put on a fantastic performance in their leavers service. They had all written poems for each other; we reminisced over photos from their first days of school and they all received a well deserved star award and gift from the governors. Well done Year 5 for making it to the end of first school – you have done us all proud!!
