Shaping Bright Futures Together

2526 Oak Class 3rd July

Oak class have had a busy few weeks, slightly interrupted by the heat. In Maths we have been doing lots of work on decimals; adding and subtracting them, as well as multiplying and dividing them by multiples of 10.

In English we have been reading Alastair Humphrey’s ‘Great Adventurers’ book, exploring the different ways he presents information about each adventurer and what writing techniques he includes.

Oak class have started their new topic ‘protecting our future’ and been investigating the different types of plastic waste and how it impacts our planet. In the process the children created their own plastic waste monsters to remind us of the effects plastic waste has on our planet.

We were lucky enough to have a workshop delivered to us by Severn Trent this week, in which the children explored where our water comes from and how much water can be wasted by carrying out everyday household tasks.

On Thursday it was sports day and our sports ambassadors finally got to carry the flags for their houses. A great day was had by all, and some fantastic leadership and comradery was shown by Oak class.
