Transport Rescue Vehicles

Our week has focused on different types of rescue vehicles.  We have compared ambulances, fire engines, police cars, police motorbikes, lifeboats and air ambulances; looking at the different means of transport and where and why they would be used.  We have then used this knowledge to build our own vehicles out of boxes, all of which have their own wheels.  Towards the end of the week, we have tested them out and had great fun racing them.

On Monday, we had a very enjoyable SCARF session, where we had a visit from Harold the Giraffe, who taught us all about our bodies and how to keep healthy.  We took turns to wash his face, brush his hair and help him brush his teeth.

We have started to learn our Happy Shepherd song for the nativity.  The children are really enjoying the tune and many of them know the words and actions already.  The cold weather has brought ice into the playground.  We studied it, and used a wide variety of language to describe what we saw and felt.  We left a bucket of water out on Thursday night and had an ice window by Friday!  This fitted in very well with the start of advent which has got us all excited about the build up to Christmas.
