Science Week 2025
What a fantastic we have had being Scientists!
Our Science week has been full of awe and wonder moments and each class has been busy investigating and observing through the week.
In Acorns they have looked at hot and cold (they were finding out about dragons!) In Holly there was lots of colour work with mixing and dissolving Skittles to make rainbows. In Hawthorn they took part in animal yoga and also forensics, finding observing their fingerprints. In Willow they investigated resistance in both the air and water and finally, in Oak class they looked at surface tension by dipping dandelion clocks and also by piercing bags of water with sharp pencils without them leaking!
On Thursday we had a Whizz Bang Science afternoon where the children took part in a carousel of activities. Mrs Tulley led investigations using fire to make a sugar snake and to look at the use of oxygen to burn a candle. Mrs Thompson led capillary action investigation using felt pens and water to bleed along some kitchen roll to make a rainbow. Mrs Emond led a density workshop where the children looked at different liquids and how they don't mix. Mrs Holdsworth looked at chemical reactions and made elephants toothpaste and invisible ink!
Finally, the week was completed with a whole school challenge, who could make the paper aeroplane that can fly the furthest. Each class worked on their planes and then we all went outside for a fly off. Congratulations to all of the children for working so hard and especially to Edie, Wilf and Benji for winning the KS1 competition and to Charlie, Archie and Jasmine for the KS2 competition.
