Implementation

At Ashton under Hill First School, we use White Rose resources as the basis of our planning but teachers adapt and tailor activities to suit the children in their class; a wide range of other mathematical resources are also utilised.

Outline Long Term Plans are set out in the document below but again, teachers may adapt the learning sequence to best support their pupils.

We are currently participating in the NCETM* Teaching for Mastery programme, working with the GLOW maths hub (Gloucestershire and Worcestershire). We use their Mastering Number resources to develop number sense in our younger children (Reception, Year 1 and Year 2). Key Stage 2 teachers use a wide range of resources to continue this learning.

*National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics.

We have also worked closely with representatives of Bredon Hill Academy and other local First Schools to produce the cluster Calculation Policy.

The PowerPoint below will give you an appreciation of how maths is taught and progression through the school
