Shaping Bright Futures Together

Willow wb 04.12.23

It has been another busy week in Willow Class. In our Science lessons, we have been finding out about soil. We began by talking about why soil is important and looked at what soil is made from. We then used the magnifying glasses to look at different soil samples, noticing their differences and similarities. We even found some living creatures in some of the samples! In Music, we've continued with our recorder lessons and this week we learnt the note D. We've been working on playing together as an ensemble and have been practising reading notes on a stave.

In our Art lesson, we created a colour wash using water colour paints. We used our paint to go from a lighter to darker tone by mixing in colours and completed this activity in two different colours to show a contrast. So as to make the colour wash look like the sun setting at Stonehenge, we used black paper to create Sarsen stones which we then arranged in the foreground. Take a look at the photos to see our finished pieces.

In Maths lessons we have been focusing on multiples of 8 and how we can apply our recall of the 4 times tables to support this. We have been making statements as to what multiples of 8 are and are not as well as using venn diagrams to organise different multiples. We then moved on to mixed multiples of 2, 3, 4 and 8 to make sure we were reading the questions carefully before responding.

We have continued with our writing on Quest stories throughout the week and, in particular, building in some dialogue to help move the story forwards.
