Shaping Bright Futures Together

2425 Holly Class Week beginning 30th June

The highlight of our week this week has to be Sports Day on Tuesday! The children were brilliant and they all look part in a range of sports activities and games throughout the morning before competing in the races. It was a day full of fun and teamwork. Do have a look at the photos.

Back in the classroom we have read on a little further in our book, The Sea of Dreams and discovered a family who needed rescuing from a sandcastle, they make it out in a little boat on a stormy sea! The children enjoyed some drama, putting themselves in that position, and then have practised writing short sentences and the Year 1 children used exclamation marks to create signs asking for help. All of the children have also written recounts about what happened from the point of view of the family and created some super stormy sea poetry.

In maths this week, the Year 1 children have been recapping and consolidating their learning from across the term and making sure they are feeling confident with all of the new skills they have been working on. The Reception children have been consolidating their shape knowledge and in particular looking at how different shapes can be used to create images.

Next week is the Teddy Bear's picnic for our new starters and the children in Holly class are responsible for making the picnic snacks! For this DT project, the children have chosen some picnic food and designed the savoury muffins and fruit kebabs they think will be most popular. Now the planning is complete, next week they will be preparing and making the food.

This week the children have also enjoyed taking part in some singing as part of our music lessons and they have continued to learn about different everyday materials in our science lessons.
