Shaping Bright Futures Together

2526 Acorn and Holly week beginning 15th December

It has been a wonderful two weeks full of festive fun in Acorn and Holly class! A real highlight has to be our Nativity performances last week. I think you will all agree that the children were amazing storytellers and they sang beautifully, we were so proud of them and all their hard work really paid off. We really hope you enjoyed the show!

For the past two weeks we have been reading the Jolly Postman and the Jolly Christmas Postman to finish our off our transport themed half term. Our theatre space in the classroom has turned into an elf post and sorting office and we have taken on the responsibility of sorting the school’s Christmas post. Each day a group of children looks at all the cards that have been posted and sorts and counts them into the correct class boxes – it has been brilliant for spotting lots of the graphemes we have been learning in phonics and recognising the names of each of the classes in school. Then, with a jingle of bells, the children have been delivering the post to each of the classes!

We have also enjoyed a Christmas lunch and Christmas party day, of course complete with our hand made party hats and a visit from Father Christmas himself. Everyone took their turn to have a little chat with him and receive a little gift. The children have been busy using their art and craft skills to create Christmas cards by printing ferns and then turning them into Christmas trees and they have also made a calendar to bring home ready for the New Year.

We have also taken part in some brilliant enrichment activities these past couple of weeks. As part of PE the children had a glow dodgeball session which was brilliant fun as well as giving us all chance to work on our super listening and teamwork skills. We have also been to explore the new forest school site and had the most wonderful morning outside playing, exploring and investigating alongside the children from Oak class.

As well as all of this the children have been taking part in lots of different opportunities to check and consolidate all of the learning they have been doing this half term. We are so proud of all of the progress everyone is making, their positive attitudes and determination. It is really lovely to see. We do hope that everyone has a well deserved break and a wonderful Christmas time with family, we will look forward to seeing you in the new year.
