Shaping Bright Futures Together

Willow - wc 14 February

As we approach half term the children are still busy at work in Willow Class. Lots of learning has taken place in this first half of the spring term and the children should be proud of their efforts.

Earlier on this week, the children performed their barn dance for the school dance festival. They worked well as a group and remembered the different steps for their dance.

In Science our Light topic continued and the children really enjoyed carrying out an experiment to test the amount of light that can travel through different materials. We recorded the results and evaluated them against our predictions.

In English the children have planned their story about going through a magical door to an unfamiliar place using a story map. Our stories have been inspired by 'Leon and the Place Between.' We have been learning about paragraphs, conjunctions and speech.

Thursday afternoon was Internet Safety afternoon. The children enjoyed discussing what they would do if they encountered an unusual message or email online and who they would turn to for help.  They explored ‘Digital Footprints’ and discussed what they do, play or look at online and completed their own footprint activity.  They were very interested to find out that their ‘digital footprints’ stay with them throughout their lives and don’t get washed away like footprints on a beach.

Maths has continued this week with the topic of Equivalent Fractions.  The children are finding this challenging but are persevering and have made really good progress.  They have been able to complete an equivalent fraction wall and have used hands on resources to understand this topic further.

We wish you a restful and relaxing break and see you all after the half term holidays!
