Shaping Bright Futures Together

Willow - WB 17.10.2022

This week the children took part in a Scooter Workshop. The children learned about control, respect and consideration for others when riding on their scooter.

"It was really fun and I loved every second!" Millie

As part of our artwork, the children have created their own Egyptian piece of art using pattern, line and movement. The pictures were very detailed and carefully drawn using an Egyptian figure. The class also created their own bookmark using hieroglyphs on papyrus paper.

As part of our English lessons, the children have been planning their own information text all about the pyramids of Egypt. We have learned about the various features and how to write an effective introduction to begin the text. We included pictures, captions and technical vocabulary. We have written these up in best to combine all of the features and we were really impressed with the quality of the final pieces. As part of Black History Month, we read the story 'Coming to England' written by Floella Benjamin. We used evidence from the text to make comparisons.

In Maths, we have been counting in 25s and 50s. We played a game of Fizz, Buzz to help practise these skills and we enjoyed using these mental maths skills in a competitive context. The children were very accurate!

The children in Willow class have worked really hard throughout the first half term and we are proud of the progress they have made so far. We hope that everyone has a lovely, restful hard term and we look forward to seeing everyone in a week's time.
