23 Acorn - the Knight Who Said No!

We have focused the week on 2 books: The Knight Who Said 'NO'! and The Very Last Castle.  We have continued our work on castles, finding out more about how they were built.  We finished work on our shields and enjoyed dressing up as a knight.  The highlight of the week was a visit, on Wednesday, from Mrs Pilcher who brought Mr Bumble (pony) into school.  All  the children, that were in that day, went for a short pony ride. Several children had never sat on a horse before and I am sure that it is an event that they will remember for many years.

The egg that appeared last week has mysteriously grown and changed colour.  We are in constant correspondence (via letter) with it's mummy who lives in a tree at the end of the playground.  Unfortunately, the egg fell out of the tree and it's mummy thought that the Acorn children would look after it well.  We have made predictions about what will hatch out - chicken, rat, turtle, unicorn or squid. However, we have found out today that 'Jack' the egg will hatch next week and will be ..................... a baby dragon!  More news to follow next week.

Other news:

  • The chrysalises are still chrysalises
  • In phonics, we have been developing our rhyming skills
  • In maths, we have been playing with the numicon, making castle shapes out of it, drawing around them and asking our friends to make them again.
