2425 Holly Class Week beginning 23rd June
The weeks are whizzing by in Holly Class we take part in and work in preparing for lots of different summer term activities! On Wednesday, it was transition morning and all of the children in school moved to the classes they will be in from September for a few hours. All of the children in Holly class came back from Hawthorn class having had a lovely time and excited for what is to come, it was lovely to see. We will continue to talk about next year and what that means so that the children feel fully prepared come September.
We had a lovely afternoon up at the meadow on Tuesday re-enacting and retelling 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' as the long, wavy grass was the perfect length for 'swishing and swashing!'. The children also found lots of bugs and creatures living in the grass and drew some lovely landscape pictures.
In our maths lessons this week the Reception children have been learning about sharing and grouping through lots of practical activities and on Friday all of the children worked together to learn about 'equal' and 'unequal' groups. It was super to hear some brilliant mathematical vocabulary being used to solve problems together. The Year 1 children have continued their work counting in 2s, 5s and 10s and are working hard to be able to count fluently in this way.
We continue to work with the book Sea of Dream in Drawing club and this week the children have really impressed us with some descriptive writing, they have used some super adjectives to describe the seaside scenes as well as notice how it changes as night falls.
We have also managed to squeeze in some science work and go on a materials hunt around the classroom and outside, noticing what different things are made from and starting to consider why, as well as some Sports Day practise in readiness for next week!
