In English, we've completed our first unit of work based on 'I Love Bugs' by Emma Dodd. The children created their own poems on the theme of animals and then wrote them out in best handwriting. We've now started work on 'Little Red Riding Hood', the Nosy Crow version, and we're looking forward to exploring this traditional tale with a twist!
Both year groups are coming to the end of their work on number and place value in maths, so it's addition and subtraction next. We've used some super practical activities to support their learning.
In RE, the children have learnt about the Christian creation story and thought about what they can do to help preserve our wonderful world. Meanwhile, in Computing, they've spent more time finding out how to group objects and identify their properties.
In Science, we have been learning about the five senses and carried out an investigation to use all of our senses, sometimes blindfolded, helping a girl find her teddy bear that smelled of mint, liked apples, had a squeak in it's tummy, felt fluffy and had a footprint that measure 10cm. We had a great time working through all the clues although not all children enjoyed the different things to taste - the lemon slices made the children pull some very funny faces!
