Shaping Bright Futures Together

Pumpkin Soup

It was Halloween on Monday, and we carved a pumpkin, scooping it out and drawing shapes on it that were then cut out.  On Tuesday, having read the Pumpkin Soup story, we chopped our pumpkin up and made soup. Towards the end of the week, we switched our focus to Bonfire Night and learned about fire safety (whilst enjoying a campfire and toasting a marshmallow).

We have been practising our mark making by experimenting with patterns in shaving foam and have used autumn leaves to make some beautiful natural mobiles. We have been counting pumpkin seeds and some of us are able to match them up to the right numbers.

The 'I'm a Little Pumpkin' rhyme has been popular this week, with all of the children being really happy to shout "Boo!" at the end.  Our listening skills are really improving, and we have been very engrossed in the stories of the week.  We even joined the rest of the school in the Open The Book assembly to hear the story of Adam and Eve.
