Shaping Bright Futures Together

Willow - w/c 22nd November

This week our focus in English has been how to write a newspaper report about the wolf attack on Arthur’s town in the story ‘Arthur and the Golden Rope.’ The children created their own headlines and learnt about how to engage the reader.

We enjoyed our trip to the cinema to watch the film Shaun the Sheep Movie Farmageddon. The children created their own Newsround style news report as part of their “No Pens Day Wednesday” activity. We discussed the most appropriate language to engage the audience.

Our focus for Wednesday’s maths was all about 2D shapes. The children created different 2D shapes using cocktail sticks and marshmallows and we discussed the properties of these shapes.

In Science this week, the class learned about the human skeleton and we found out the names of different bones that make up the human body. We did some role play and sang the song from the story ‘Funny Bones’ to help us to learn the scientific names.

In French Year 3 have been learning the colours and Year 4 have been describing clothes using colours and whether they are too big, too small or just right.
