Shaping Bright Futures Together

Willow wb 31st March 2025

This week as part of our Science, the children learned about the role of pollinators. We found out that flowers are brightly coloured to attract insects. We know that bees are the most important pollinators and are responsible for pollinating millions of flowers in our ecosystem. As part of our Topic lesson we created a human map using cubes to compare the population and area of the countries within the UK.

In writing lessons, the children have been learning how to write a character description. We used the story ‘Mimi and the Mountain Dragon’ to explore similes to describe the mother dragon in the story. We will write our own descriptions using expanded noun phrases and similes.  We have been busy recapping our knowledge in Maths this week and have completed our end of term mini quizzes to check the skills we are confident with and those that we can keep working on. One of our Maths lessons was an open ended investigation and involved us calculating the difference between numbers. The children worked really well with their partners to spot patterns and test these out.

In Computing, the children explored the micro bits and managed to programme a coin flip and birthday badge. We learnt how to input code and explored the different blocks we could use.
