15th January – Investigating ‘Winter’ in Acorn Class
In Acorn Class over the past two weeks – both at home and in school, we have explored the theme of ‘Winter’. The weather has been perfect for us to freeze ice windows, explore snowflake patterns and investigate what animals do during the winter. We read and listened to some lovely stories on this theme and have made dens for hibernating bears and made hedgehogs out of all sorts of materials and bird feeders for the over wintering birds. We have painted pictures of handprint robins and investigated flight ( not of migrating birds , but of paper aeroplanes). We have also composed and performed our own winter music. The children have done lots of reading and writing and in our maths we have been investigating ways in which numbers are all made up of different combinations of smaller numbers.
Thank you to everyone who has taken on the challenges of the last two weeks in such a positive and supportive way and a genuine ‘Well done!’ to each and every one of you .
