9th October – Goldilocks and the Three Bears in Acorn Class
This week in Acorn class we have been enjoying the story of Goldilocks and the Three bears and working on the language of comparison and concepts such as more/less, bigger/smaller, taller / shorter . We also had a huge collection of spanners which we sorted from biggest to smallest and then we decided to use them to make a xylophone in our outdoor play area.
We have been busy doing lots of painting and pattern making so that we can brighten up our classroom with some lovely displays which you will be able to see through the window next week.
This week we have also enjoyed our first hot lunches at school and we have been very impressed by the independent and sensible attitude which our reception children are showing when they collect and eat their lunch in the dinner hall each day.
On Thursday’s forest school session we had great fun catching the rain using pieces of guttering before the clouds cleared and we were able to visit the meadow.
We ended a rainy Friday afternoon this week with a spot of cleaning as some of our children decided the dolls needed a bath and others set to work to wash their clothes and hang it out to dry under the shelter in our outdoor area.
