Shaping Bright Futures Together

Class Acorn

Welcome to Acorn Class where the youngest children in the school are busy enjoying their learning.

We are a Reception and Preschool class and we learn together with our teacher Mrs Stephenson and our teaching assistants, Mrs Shiels and Mrs Barnett.

This term's Learning

We started this term with a theme of birthdays and we planned together a special party to celebrate all the birthdays in our class which took place during the most recent lockdown period when the children were unable to celebrate together with thier friends. As well as being a fun event, this was a lovely learning opportunity with lots of good reasons for writing (invitations, lists of games and food, reports about the party) and problem solving maths (Who has a birthday in each month? How many cakes will we need? How many candles?).

After this our learning is heading seaward with the children requesting a 'Pirates and Mermaids' theme which will give us opportunity to work together (something which we have not been able to do so much during lockdown) designing and making, solving problems and developing our speech and language through imaginative small world and role play and storytelling. We are anticipating some exciting adventures in the next few weeks!

Regular Weekly Activites

Every day we spend some learning time outdoors and for this we ask that your child always has appropriate outdoor clothes in school.

Given the variable weather, please send your child in with an appropriate coat if the forecast is wet or a sunhat and layer of suncream if it's going to be hot.
