Ashton Under Hill First School

Shaping Bright Futures Together

Hawthorn Wb 20th November

We've had another super week of learning in Hawthorn class.
We've started a new text in English called 'What Happen When' by Delphine Chedru. The children had a great time coming up with answers to questions like:  What happens when my let sock slips behind the radiator? What happens to the lollipop I accidentally drop? What happens to the cloud when it floats across the sky? During the next few weeks they'll be using their imagination to create their own question ideas.
In maths, Year 1s have been adding and subtracting within 10, while Year 2s have been working with larger numbers.
In topic, we've started to find out about transport in the past and compared it with today's. And in computing, the children created their own digital images based on 'The Snail' by Henri Matisse.
In science, we started to look at the seasons and thought about what we see during each season and what we might weaar.
We've also begun our Nativity rehearsals and you're definitely in for a Christmas treat if you're able to attend the performance!
And finally, we'll be saying 'Au revoir' to our student, Miss Squires, who's made the most of her first 3-week placement. We'll look forward to welcoming her back next Spring.
