Shaping Bright Futures Together

Immi

Our story which is set in the Arctic Circle has been very appropriate for the cold weather that we have been experiencing.  Immi tells the story of a little Inuit girl who lives in a world where most of the things around her are white.  She starts to fish out colourful objects from the sea, from a tropical county that is filled with colour.

We have made our own igloo and decorated it with feathers and shells.  We have been on a sledge journey (pulled around the hall on a large white sheet), imagined a cold dark world and the noise that our feet would make.  We also thought about what we would give to a new friend from a different country, something that we like and we think that someone else would like.

The illustrations in the book are beautiful and have made us think about the features of our faces.  We have practised our drawing and some of us have practised writing our names. In maths we have focused on number recognition and counting and in phonics, we have been practising using our robot voices.  We have also had great fun riding the trikes.
