2324 Stuck

Firstly, it has been a pleasure to welcome 2 new children into the school family. We are very much looking forward to watch them flourish over the next year.

What a fun book 'Stuck' is!  It is about a little boy who gets his kite stuck in a tree and throws up a number of increasingly bizarre objects to try and release it (including a fire engine).  We thoroughly enjoyed the story and it inspired us to make plastic bag kites and to test them in the playground.  It is amazing how much pleasure (and science) can be found in running around with a piece of string and a plastic bag in the wind!

We have also practised our catching, using balloons. The balloon moves slower than a ball and is therefore much easier to catch.  We will move on to throwing and catching large balls next week.

The fire engine in the story has made us think about people who help us. We have learnt about firefighters and discussed what we would do if there was a fire.  We hunted around school for fire extinguishers and were surprised at how many we found. We also practised our tessellation by filling the shape of a fire engine with numicon.

We practised the abc song, and used our robot voices to identify toppings for a pizza.  We also learnt all about the celebration of Eid and enjoyed trying on a sari.
