We've enjoyed getting back into our usual routines and the children have worked hard, despite the warm weather. We've managed to take a break each afternoon to enjoy some fresh air and have a little time outside the classroom.
We've begun our new topic - Towers and Turrets - to great excitement! Look out for our topic information which will be emailed to you shortly.
In English, we started our new text, 'The Disgusting Sandwich', with the children writing their own stories about a badger with a rumbly tummy. Then they acted out key scenes from the story to help them to remember it.
In maths, Year 1s began by making arrays while Year 2s have started their work on fractions - exploring the importance of equal parts and learning how to find half of shapes, items and amounts.
Our computing lesson revolved around Kandinsky's famous concentric circles picture, and the children did a fantastic job of creating their own designs using the Paintz.app programme on our IPads.
We had a lovely music lesson where we thought about how different music makes us feel and listened to Bach - Air on a G String, Satie - Gymnopedie No.3 and Scott Joplin - Maple Leaf Rag - all great and all very different.
Finally, it was our first swimming session this week and we were very proud of how well they listened and we are all looking forward to the next few weeks splashing in the pool.
