In English, the children had a go at improving sentences from the book by adding adjectives, precise verbs and conjunctions. In a cross-curricular activity, they also wrote postcards from a seaside destination of their own choice and added an illustration on the back in place of a photograph. We've also begun a data collection and recording activity linked to topic, in which the children have told us about their seaside holiday destinations. We've tallied the eight most popular and are now in the process of representing the data in the form of a pictogram and bar chart.
On Wednesday afternoon, the children had a super time with Mrs Gibbons and Miss Bevan. They practised position and direction by creating a series of instructions for their friends to follow. Afterwards, they created algorithms to programme a BeeBot and it was lovely to hear the excitement in their voices when they managed to successfully get their BeeBots to the desired locations.
In our swimming session the children were using a range of strokes to swim different distances and many children were successful in swimming their furthest distances - even in the deep end! We were very proud of how hard they have worked and how much their confidence has grown over the last few weeks.
