Shaping Bright Futures Together

Willow wb 28.04.25

Welcome back! We hope you had a lovely break. On Monday, we started our new Science topic about gravity and forces. The children completed their thinking squares to see what we already know and remembered from last term. The children learned all about gravity and how it is important in everyday life. We also learned that gravity was discovered by Sir Isacc Newton. We considered what life would be life if we gravity didn’t exist.

In writing lessons, we have read and explored the story ‘Meerkat Mail’. This is a story about a Meerkat called Sunny who is bored of the Kalahari Desert and decides to go on a trip to meet his long-lost cousins. During his trip, he sends various postcards to his family and finally realises there is no place better than home. This half term, we will recall our knowledge of apostrophes for omission and learn how to use apostrophes for possession accurately when writing letters and postcards. We will identify plural and singular words and how to use them in our writing.

In Maths we have been learning how to add and subtract fractions and make a whole using tenths and hundredths. The Year 3 children did some practical maths to help them explore unit fractions of a set of objects and our Year 4 children have been partitioning in lots of different ways, using the place value counters to support them with their exchanging.

In Computing, we began thinking about recording sound as we are learning how to plan and create a podcast. The children all tried out recording sound and explored some of the features on the garage band app.
