Shaping Bright Futures Together

Acorn The Journey

We have started our 'Beside the Seaside' topic, with an introduction to the journey to the sea, with the aptly name story 'The Journey'.  It also ties in with a number of our children's half term experiences of visiting the beach. Our role play area will be evolving in to a seaside themed area over the next few weeks.

The 30 Days Wild initiative has encouraged us to go out and do an outdoor learning opportunity every day.  We have been on a bug hunt, dug our class vegetable patches and planted them with courgettes, tomatoes and cucumbers. We also ran over the playing field in bare feet, to feel what grass feels like.  We noticed the difference in textures and temperature.

In phonics, we have been making a shopping list, using our 'robot' voices and in maths, we have been talking about floating and sinking and counting how many things we can fit in a boat before it capsizes.  Our 2 new children have settled in very well.  What a good week it has been.
