Shaping Bright Futures Together

Oak - WB 12th September 2022

It was lovely to see so many of you at the Meet the Teacher Presentation yesterday. If you were unable to attend, the information I discussed is available on our class page here.

We have had a busy week again and are making good progress with our story ideas to re-write a Cinderella style tale. We have looked at the features of the typical fairy story and worked out the formula used to give these stories their characteristic charms. Next week we will be planning and starting our own versions and showcasing our fabulous writing skills.

In topic we enjoyed an Ancient Egyptian Information Run, whereby we had to find as many facts hidden around the room in a limited time. We also looked at a photograph and had to spot the elements that were misleading - have a look at the picture in our gallery this week to see how many you can spot too.

Our computing lesson required us to try to spot real or fake information on web pages - in our investigations to 'Check it's for real'. We understood that we should be very wary about believing all we see and read and got tips on spotting fake information.

We finished the self portraits we started last week - see if you can spot your child in the gallery! We also looked at how Egyptian faces were depicted in Ancient art and have started a pencil drawing of a character from Ancient Egypt focussing on getting the facial features in perspective and using the pencil to create some shading and tone.

PE in the sunshine was a treat on Thursday. The children had to work as a team to create a pattern out of cones one of them had seen. It was very interesting to see what they came up with when memorising the image.

We are looking forward to swimming next week - please check you have seen the letter about it. We are also hoping to go to a Forest School session next Friday with Mrs Shiels, more information about this to follow next week.
