Shaping Bright Futures Together

Whatever next!

There was great excitement when a Fire Engine parked outside of the school. The Firefighters found time to show us what they carried on their truck, much to the delight of the Acorn and Holly children.

We read 'Whatever Next' and used various shaped boxes in our imaginative play just like Baby Bear does in the story. We looked around and found a number of percussion 'instruments' in our mud kitchen and had great fun making music by banging pots and pans quietly, loudly and in a rhythmic pattern.

It has also been Maths week and each day we have been singing counting songs and playing maths games.  Within our play we have talked about capacity, numbers and number recognition, problem - solving, making predictions, shape and practised our mark making. We are great mathematicians, even if we are not yet aware of it!
