Shaping Bright Futures Together

2324 Holly week beginning 11th March

The children all looked fabulous in their red for red nose day today!

In maths this week, Y1 have been partitioning numbers to 50. They have been using part part whole models to show how many tens and ones are in each number, as well as becoming confident reading and writing numbers to 50. The Reception children have also been using the language of part, part and whole this week. They have each created their own number block seven and used colours to show different ways of making 7.

We all worked together in literacy lessons to create a lift the flap information sheet about squirrels before the children all had a go at their own. We had to imagine that an alien was coming to our school and have never seen a squirrel and be really clear with the information. The reception children worked hard to write a sentence under their question flaps, whilst  Y1 were challenged to write their own question sentences and then answer them with a sequence of sentences.

We had a special cricket coaching session on Tuesday. The children really enjoyed it and the coach commented on what a particularly good job they all did and how he was able to show them some more advanced skills!

The children have also produced some brilliant artwork inspired by our Geography work, learning all about Kenya. They carefully used watercolours, thinking carefully about colour to create a painting inspired by the book we read called 'Planting the Trees of Kenya'.

Next week is our last week before the Easter holidays and we will be celebrating in the Church next Friday. We have been working hard to learn a song and actions to share with you then!
