24 Acorn Sparks in the Sky
The children have returned to school full of news about their half term holiday. They have enjoyed sharing their Learning Journey books with their friends. We have welcomed Rory into class and he has settled in really well.
On Tuesday, we found out about the Bonfire celebration. We watched some films of fireworks and were fascinated by a small sparkler. We followed this with a real bonfire and some toasted marshmallows, which everyone tasted and most really, really enjoyed!
We have followed this up by learning a counting rhyme about fireworks banging and whizzing, and have practiced counting down from 10 to launch ourselves around the classroom like a rocket. We have also had great fun pretending to go to a firework display and warm ourselves by a fire afterwards.
Tea bags covered in paint have been dropped in order to create splat firework paint pictures and polystyrene balls have been covered in tissue paper to make toffee apples for our role play area. We have also looked at the light box and made different shapes in the sand, to represent the night sky and have played musical instruments loudly and quietly to recreate some of the sounds that we may hear on Bonfire Night.
