Shaping Bright Futures Together

Errol's Garden

Spring is finally here!  Acorn class have made the most of the good weather and have been outside enjoying the fresh air and outdoor equipment.  It has been lovely to see them working together to build tall towers and complicated assault courses.

The book for this week has been 'Errol's Garden'. This is a lovely story about a child that lives in a block of flats but longs for his own garden.  This has inspired us to look for spring flowers growing within the school grounds and try to make some of our own using different crafting resources. We have also planted some sunflowers.....maybe we can have a competition to see whose grows the biggest?

We have been looking at repeating patterns, and learnt a new rhyme about a daffodil.  We then made some daffodils out of playdough and on Friday, we made some out of bread dough (although sadly they lost their shape as they proved).  Some of us also experimented with runny paint and tried to blow it across the page, using a straw.  The aim was to make trees, however, the results show how much fun we had rather than looking anything like a tree!

We have also made some new friends.  We have several children starting with us next term and they have been in for their taster session.  We are very excited about them starting with us.
