Shaping Bright Futures Together

Happy New Year from Willow Class

Firstly, a Happy New Year to everyone in Ashton Under Hill First School.

Willow Class have settled back into the Spring Term extremely well and have been eager to learn after two and a half weeks of rest and family time.

The week has started with new topics to be learnt, friends to be seen and new concepts to be taught.

We are discovering all about 'The Maya' in our topic lessons this term and finding out about their art, architecture, mathematics, calendar and astronomical system.

Multiplication started off the term in Maths and the class have been introduced to two brand new books for Guided Reading and class reading, namely 'Fantastically great women who changed the world' by Kate Pankhurst and 'The boy at the back of the class' by Onjali Q. Rauf.

We have been perfecting our hockey skills this week and will continue to do so until we go swimming in February.

'Light' is the topic of focus this term in Science and we are comparing Carlos Merida (a Guatemalan Artist) and Henri Matisse in our Art lessons and going to be trying out printing.

I am sure you will agree that it will be another exciting term for all in Willow Class!
