Shaping Bright Futures Together

Hawthorn WB 20th June

What a lovely week we have had in Hawthorn Class.

In  English we have been continuing with our Slime book and have been learning about conjunctions in a sentence.  The children had to add "when", "if", "because" and "and" to their sentences.

In maths we have been looking at money and the children set up a shop so that they could work out how much they could buy with a set amount of money.

Wednesday was a very exciting day as it was our class trip with Holly Class.  We all went on the bus and drove to Norton in Worcester to the recycling centre, EnviroSort.  The children (and the teachers) learnt about the sorting and recycling process, what could and couldn't be included in the green recycling bin and then we went to see the sorting machine itself.

After all the learning we went along to Worcester Woods and enjoyed a picnic in the shade and then a play in the sunshine.  The children were all beautifully behaved and we had a fantastic day out!

Finally, at the end of the week the children have been making their own car from recycled materials.  The car was made from a plastic bottle and then we decorated it with old magazine and catalogue pictures.   Hopefully we can share some photographs of the finished items soon.
