Shaping Bright Futures Together

Hawthorn wb 6th June

Another busy week in Hawthorn Class!  The children have come back after the holidays, full of energy and ready to learn.

Mr Arkle has been leading lots of the lessons and the children have really enjoyed being taught by him.

In English, we have been looking at instruction writing ready to start our new book which is called, "The Book of Slime."

In Maths, the Year 1s have been partitioning numbers and learning about larger numbers.  The Year 2 children have been busy doing lots of revision of different skills and have wowed us with what they have remembered.

In Science, we have carried on with our work on plants and this week the children have been using their observation skills to look at garden plants and wild plants.

In Music, Mrs Emond started to teach the children how to play the recorder.  We learned how to blow into the recorder, that the left hand goes at the top and how to play the note B.  There was lots of blowing to the tunes of Biker Ben and Lazy Crazy Kangaroo!

Finally in Computing, the children were delighted to get the Beebots out and practise their programming using different algorithms to find different places on a map.  They started by practising their programmes and then worked in teams to move their Beebots.  Great fun was had by all!
