Holly Class - poetry performances

Wow, Holly Class, what brilliant poets you all are! This week the children in Holly Class had the opportunity to perform a poem that they had learnt in front of the whole class in preparation for the school Poetry Plate competition next week. We had a wonderful range of poems; some nursery rhymes, some funny poems and some written by the children themselves. I was so impressed by the time and effort that the children have clearly put into working on their poem and then their bravery to stand up and perform. What an achievement for everyone! After the performances all of the children visited our 'polling station' and voted for their favourite poem. We will have three children go forward to the whole school competition on Wednesday next week. Enjoy these photos of some of the children performing....

This week the children have also been showing off how much they have learnt so far this term. Everyone has worked incredibly hard to remember their phonics sounds and use these in reading and writing as well as use and apply lots of the maths skills we have been working on. We finished the week with an Eco afternoon litter picking in our school grounds in the glorious sunshine. The children were very conscientious and learnt all about how to safely dispose of litter they might find, we also very much enjoyed using the special litter picking tools!

Have a lovely weekend everyone,

Mrs Holdsworth
